Long before the drive-thrus of McDonald's and Wendy's there were places where servers on roller skates or sneakers came out and served you car side with a tray that fit snugly onto your car door. The Hot Shoppe was one of the first and best at serving that way, not that there was anything exciting about eating in your hot old car anyway.
