The rock scene in Philly really began to take off in the late 60s when The Trauma was the premier rock club, located in a commercial section of town known at 2121 Arch Street. Promoter Manny Rubin presented many of the top acts--Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, Mike Bloomfield's Electric Flag, Lou Reed's Velvet Underground and local faves likes Mandrake Memorial and Ragamuffins..
