It was a great idea at the time. Philly ad agency Sonder, Levitt & Sagorsky had the challenge of rebranding the post Wilt and 66-67 championship era to create new excitement for the 72-73 season. New coach Roy Rubin had a rag tag bunch of castoffs and one remaining relic of the glory years in Hal Greer. But the new advertising campaign--SIXERS GOT HOOPLA-- couldn't gloss over the fact that this time sucked. In fact, their dismal record of 9-73 still stands as the worst record in NBA history. It was a clear example of the advertising being much, much better than the product!
