So bad they once changed their nickname to the Bluejays, and even worse once changed their red & white logo and colors to try for better luck. It didn't work. In 1938 the Phils changed to a blue & gold design, and replaced the iconic P with Billy Penn fielding a team from high atop City Hall. It wasn't great, but it was different. We own an original 1938 Philadelphia Phillies National League patch, and we're happy to put it on a tee for the most esoteric of Phillies fans!
