Description

If you're old enough to remember when Bob Horn hosted and afternoon dance show on WFIL-TV, you've been rockin' for ages! It all began in 1952 when Horn became the host of Bandstand, and presented records and appearances by the most popular pop recording artists of the day--Patti Page, Rosemary Clooney, Dick Haymes and a host of others. But it wasn't until October 1954, when Bob Horn introduced Chester, Pa recording artists Bill Haley & The Comets to Bandstand dancers and Philly viewers that fast dancing took off. Horn had a great run until July '56 when he was dumped and replaced by the boyish Dick Clark. And the rest was history. Philadelphia's little afternoon dance party became a national sensation!
