Description

1956 was a pivotal year in the history of rock & roll as radio jocks like Alan Freed and Bill Randle and promoters like Lee Gordon saw the potential in hosting traveling caravans from city to city featuring the big acts and up-and-comers of the day. The Big Show of 1956 was probably the first and biggest of these live rock & roll concerts. On April 25, 1956, the Arena at 45th & Market hosted two sold-out shows of 11,000 screaming fans each featuring local favorite Bill Haley & The Comets, Chuck Berry, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, Clyde McPhatter (post Drifters), The Clovers, The Platters, Shirley & Lee and the Buddy Johnson Big Band. Even more impressive was the fact that this one one of the first big showcases that were fully integrated, proving once again that music was the international and interracial harmonizer! Our handsomely reproduced poster is a rare relic from that pivotal day. Size: 20 x 29.
PLEASE NOTE: Our posters are professionally reproduced on premium matte photo stock, not cheap poster paper
