Remember when a hot time in town started when you loaded up your dad's car with a few friends and then took off cruising the neighborhood? Maybe you went to the local movie palace or to a bowling alley, or even to a parlor party (remember those??). Invariably, as the night grew late it was time to go hit The Hot Shoppe, the one place where all the kids on the planet seemed to be. Back in the day they had car service, or you could go inside and slide into a big blue leather booth and kibitz with friends till curfew. The food wasn't so hot but the times definitely were!
