Cornelius McGillicuddy, aka "Connie Mack"--the grand old man of baseball who spent almost 70 years in major league baseball, including fifty-some years as owner and manager of the legendary Philadelphia Athletics. The A's had great years and some not so great years during their 56-year year run in Philly, but Connie Mack was always a presence in a three-piece suit and hat, perched on the dugout steps with a rolled up newspaper in hand to give directions to his players. We'll never see the likes of him in sports ever again!.
