Description

Once upon a time, a stretch of Amherst Avenue in Margate City, New Jersey was known for it's raucous bars and clubs that catered to denizens of the night. It was called Barbary Coast. And the area around Washington & Amherst at one time featured Gables, Meral's, Omar's, the Elbow Room, Maynard's, Kelly's and many more. At closing time the club kids usually piled in their cars and headed out the causeway to Dunes til Dawn or Lenny's by the beach for hot dogs. Those were the days, my friends!
