Remember when there was a food market on virtually every corner. Penn Fruit. American Stores. The Ackame. Dale's. Food Fair. Thriftway. A&P. And our favorite, Pantry Pride. Locally owned the Pantry Pride chain was the second generation of the big box supermarkets in the Philly area. A gastronomic paradise where the selection and scents of thousands of canned and boxed products, fresh baked goodies, rows of fresh picked produce and freezer boxes filled with frozen foods would dazzle the senses. Now the supermarkets are even more supersized. Even though most of the great old names have checked out you can now bag the distinctive Pantry Pride logo once again.
