Remember when there was a food market on virtually every corner. Penn Fruit. American Stores. The Ackame. Dale's. Pantry Pride. Thriftway. A&P. And our favorite, Food Fair. Locally owned the Food Fair chain was the first of the big box supermarkets in the Philly area. A gastronomic paradise where the selection and scents of thousands of canned and boxed products, fresh baked goodies, rows of fresh picked produce and freezer boxes filled with frozen foods would dazzle the senses. Now the supermarkets are even more supersized. Even though most of the great old names have checked out you can now register the distinctive Food Fair logo once again.
