It was a beautiful Friday night on the 23rd of September in 1926 when two of the greatest heavyweights in boxing history--Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney-- slugged it out over 10 rounds in honor of America's 150th birthday in front of over 120,000 frenzied fans at the old Sesquicentennial Stadium at Broad & Pattison. In a big upset Tunney bested Dempsey on points. After the fight Dempsey uttered the now famous line to his wife, "Honey, I forgot to duck!" What a time it was.
