Cheap skates were a great date back in the day! For a few bucks a couple could lace up a pair of rental skates and cut a figure on the rink for a few hours. One of our favorites was the old Elmwood Rink on 71st Street in Southwest Philly. We had a thing for organ music. And there was no better feeling for a kid of any age than being able to maintain your balance and whiz around like a hell on wheels!
