Was there ever a better time in town than the midnight show at the old Harlem Club on Kentucky Avenue? Especially when superior souls like James Brown came to town in the Summer of '65! Usually you could count on Larry Steele to present his solid Smart Affairs shows showcasing the likes of Slappy White and Freda Payne and the beautiful show girls, but the joint cooked even more when Sam Cooke, The Supremes, Johnny Hartman and the other greats of the day came to play. What a time it was!
