If you're old enough to remember the sights (a very eclectic crowd) and sounds (Yiddish) and smells (ummmmm) of this Girard Avenue landmark your parents and grandparents raised you right! Who can forget the surly starched shirt waiters serving heaping portions of vegetarian prokas, smoked whitefish, rice or potato knishes, blintzes with sour cream, fresh sliced lox and sturgeon, smoked cod and potato varnyshkas with apple sauce? Great stuff that was served all day and all night, even thru the wee hours. Whatta treat!
