Remember when roller skating was all the rage and it seemed like there was a roller rink in every neighborhood! Back in the day the old Chez Vous Roller Rink used to pack in the kids from Upper Darby, Drexel Hill, West Philly and all points east, west, north and south. Located above an Ackame market on Garrett Road the cost of admission was 50 cents--shoes included--and you could skate till closing. In later years the Chez Vous' claim to fame was when a young disc jockey named Jerry Blavat--The Geator With The Heater--held rock & roll dance parties every Friday night for all the yon teens.
