If your an Eagles fan, you no doubt know the history of the Philly birds has been a long one of ups and downs. The franchise's glory years of the late and great 40s quickly turned to a team of mediocrity in the 50s. But with a nucleus of young players like Bednarek, Brookshier, McDonald, Retzlaff and seasoned vets like Pihos and Wistert, the fortunes began to turn by the late 50s. Especially after Buck Shaw became the head coach and the birds traded with the LA Rams for Flying Dutchman, Norm Van Brocklin. All it took was plenty of practice, practice, practice and by 1960 the Philadelphia Eagles were NFL champs!
