Even though Billie Holiday was born in Philly and raised in Baltimore, she spent many of her tragic and star-crossed years living in the area of 14th & Bainbridge and performed at all the hot joints like Pep's, The Showboat, The Earle Theater, The Red Hill Inn over in Pennsauken, plus a few dive bars in the seamier sides of town. Lady Day was the first lady of jazz vocalese.
