The greatest part about growing up in Philly back in the day was going downtown during the holiday season to check out the displays at the big old department stores. The trip usually started with a trolley and maybe a transfer for a nickel onto the el. For us the ride was on the 13 along Chester Avenue. It was the only way to travel!
