Center City Philadelphia has always been noted as the home of the grand old hotels back in the day, like The Bellevue, Ben, Ritz Carlton, Walton, Warwick, Sylvania and others...but West Philadelphia had its fair share of hotels for the hoi polloi and none was finer than the massive Walnut Park Plaza at 63rd & Walnut, across from Cobbs Creek Park. Many famous and infamous people stayed or even lived there during the 1940s and 50s, and later on many weddings, bar mitzvahs and other occasions were celebrated there.
