To generations of Philadelphian's the legendary Palumbo's at 8th & Catharine was a South Philly landmark for celebrating special occasions and enjoying great entertainment from the likes of Frank Sinatra to Frankie Avalon. The food was so-so, the service was crushed and the tables were crowded but you could always count on a good floor show and great music provided by the Carmen Dee Orchestra. Probably every downtown prom, communion, wedding, tribute dinner or retirement dinner from at least the 50s thru 70s was held there. What a time it was.
