The migration of Philadelphia's inner city started to move north and northwest since the 1950s. Families flocked from North Philly, Logan and Feltonville to areas like Oak Lane, West Oak Lane, Melrose Park, Mount Airy and beyond. West Oak Lane was one of the great new neighborhoods, with bustling businesses lining Limekiln Pike, Ogontz Avenue, Washington Lane, Stenton Avenue and Cheltenham Avenue. The homes were new airlight row houses and the neighbors looked out for each other. What a time it was! Color: Cream
