What a great way to spend a summer day at the shore! Once you were on the boards and saw the grinning face of the clown your allowance was as good as gone. Located right next to Steel Pier Steeplechase featured an amazing array of rides, rollercoasters, a monorail that stretched out over the ocean, and all kinds of games of chance. There was one such game where you got 3 softballs for a dime and had to knock over a stack of 3 milk cartons to win a prize. We probably spent a thousand dollars over the years trying and never won at this game. During the Hurricane of '62 half the pier was demolished and there bobbing along in the ocean were the 3 milk cartons still attached. 'Ya think the game was rigged?
