The folk rock scene in Philly really began to take off in the late 60s when The 2nd Fret was the premier folk room, located in a commercial section of town known as Big Street at 19th & Sansom. Promoter Manny Rubin presented many of the best acts--including Joni Mitchell, Arlo Guthrie and Dave Van Ronk.
