Long before they were the Philadelphia 76ers, the storied franchise began as the Syracuse Nationals in time for the 1946-47 NBA season with a rag tag roster. But in subsequent seasons the team got better with the addition of Al Cervi, Paul Seymour, Dolph Schayes, Alex Hannum, Red Rocha, Johnny Kerr, Larry Costello, Hal Greer, Chet Walker and the immortal Togo Palazzi. The 62-63 was one of the best seasons in the Nats' short history, but fans were hard to come by so at the end of the season team owner Danny Biasone sold the franchise to Ike Richman & Irv Kosloff who moved the team to Philadelphia and rechristened them the 76ers. And the rest is history!
